We were approached by SPAR International, sponsors of the European Athletics Championships, to create a game as a viral marketing exercise for their brand.

The brief

To raise awareness of SPAR International’s sponsorship of the European Championships in Barcelona 2010 we were asked to create ‘Beat Barni’, a retro style game in the Daley Thompson's Decathlon mould where competitors must beat Barni, the official mascot of the event, in a Pentathlon involving 100M, 400M Hurdles, Javelin, Pole Vault and Long Jump events. Secondly, SPAR wanted players to be able to challenge their friends through various social media channels including Facebook and Twitter.

Sustain

In 2012 SPAR approached us to adapt the original Beat Barni game so that it could be deployed within the SPAR franchise as ‘Beat Sparki’, Sparki being from a new set of ‘SPARK Kids’ characters created by SPAR.
